Just a couple of days ago, director Rian Johnson shared two new photos from the set of Star Wars: Episode 8, one of which featured a Resistance X-Wing and a mysterious pilot. Today brings another sneak peek from the set, this time offering an unofficial look at a much bigger, much more notable spacecraft — you know, just in case you were concerned, for whatever reason, that the Millennium Falcon might be sitting this one out.
Sure, you have plenty of movie options in theaters next month, with Captain America: Civil War, X-Men: Apocalypse and everything in between (High-Rise. Go see High-Rise), but if you're looking to stay home there's lots of new stuff for you to check out. Whether you're looking to rent or add to your collection, read on for our guide to the new DVD and Blu-ray releases arriving in May.
By now you have the release date for Captain America: Civil War tattooed on your brain, but — shocker! — there are other movies hitting theaters next month, believe it or not. In addition to Marvel's latest, we also have a new film from Shane Black, the sequel to Neighbors and, lest you forget, X-Men: Apocalypse. There's plenty more in our guide to May's new movie releases.
You can’t have Julia Louis-Dreyfus host SNL without at least some reference to her Seinfeld past — especially when you bring Larry David back to reprise his role as presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. In this week’s debate-themed cold open, Sanders and Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton indulge in their usual caricature shenanigans and cartoonish sparring, this time with cameos from a couple of beloved sitcoms of NBC’s past.
When Ben Affleck took the stage at Comic-Con last year to promote Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it was a mere matter of minutes before rumors began circulating that Warner Bros. was planning a new solo Batman film with Affleck set to star — and possibly direct. DC’s Geoff Johns confirmed that he was working on a script with Affleck, and since then the news has basically been repeatedly confirmed via interviews with Zack Snyder, Johns and Affleck. And now WB has gone and made it officially official by announcing that a standalone Batman film is in development with Affleck. But we already knew that.
With Game of Thrones Season 6 just within our grasp, Peter Dinklage drops by Studio 8H for his SNL hosting debut. You may recall his hilarious cameo as Peter Drunklage with Bobby Moynihan's Drunk Uncle back in 2013, but that was only a hint of the greatness Dinklage brought to his first proper SNL appearance. Everyone brings their A-game to this week's brilliant, hilariously absurd show, which made ranking the sketches pretty difficult — but hey, I still tried. Read on for our ranking of this week's SNL sketches from best to worst (hey, they weren't all great).
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice had quite the weekend — not only did it break the March opening record previously held by The Hunger Games, but with $424 million worldwide, Zack Snyder’s epic now boasts the highest opening weekend for a Warner Bros. superhero movie. All those negative reviews predictably had zero effect on audiences, who flocked to see the long-awaited showdown between the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel.
It’ll be several more days before we find out if Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice managed to break any box office records (early predictions suggest it might not), but Zack Snyder’s superhero epic has already broke at least one record: the film now holds the record for highest ticketing pre-sales…at Fandango, anyway.
It's a miracle! Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 2 is hitting Netflix next month, along with the debut of new original series The Ranch and Kong: King of the Apes. In addition to the streaming service's latest original offerings, lots of television shows and movies are arriving, including everything from new favorites to old classics. Read on for our guide to April's new Netflix Instant releases.
Lucasfilm released an announcement video a couple of weeks ago to kick off production on Star Wars: Episode VIII, showing just a tiny glimpse of footage that made it look as if Rian Johnson was picking up where J.J. Abrams left off. If you had any doubts that Episode VIII would begin where The Force Awakens ends, Daisy Ridley has confirmed that this is definitely the case — and that Luke Skywalker will have much more to do this time around.
