Vigilante hacking group, Anonymous, vows in a video, “we will destroy you,” to the fanatical Westboro Baptist Church, over its planned protest at upcoming funerals for Sandy Hook School shooting victims.

It’s hard to imagine a more widely hated group of people in America than the couple dozen nutjobs who make up Westboro Baptist.  Westboro Baptist will not “corrupt” any minds through their despicable behavior.  Yet this supposed threat is presented by Anonymous as justifying their assault:  “We will not allow you to corrupt the minds of America with your seeds of hatred.  We will not allow you to inspire aggression to the social affections which you deem inferior.”

The claim that Westboro Baptist is inspiring is absurd.  Well, not completely.  It has inspired Anonymous to make the same claim they see Westboro Baptist claiming: the right to “inspire aggression to the social affections” they “deem inferior.”

Westboro Baptist represents no threat at all.  This is little more than a pretense to justify an assault on a group that has worked hard to earn every ounce of hatred they enjoy.
