State Representative Jim Ananich (D-Flint) has received his first endorsement in his run for state Senate.

The Citizens Against Government Overreach (CAGO) PAC is endorsing Ananich in the special election on May 7 to replace former Senator John Gleason who resigned his seat after being elected to a position with Genesee County.

CAGO says they support the election of Ananich because of his steady, fair and consistent work for all residents of House District 49 in Lansing.

Doug Norton, president of CAGO, says 'the residents of Genesee County will be well served with Jim in the Senate. He (Ananich) comes to the table with a dedication to remember and carry forward the history of the hard working people in Genesee County who helped build the middle class. Ananich has called on our governor to work harder to improve the economy, create jobs and help create a safer environment for our children and families."

Ananich will be on the ballot in the March 12 primary. He is being challenged for the Democratic nomination by another State Representative, Woodrow Stanley.
