Just ahead of the Fourth of July holiday weekend, there is good news for Michigan motorists. AAA Michigan reports statewide gas prices have dropped 13 cents in the past week.

AAA Michigan reports that Michigan's current statewide average is about $2.47 per gallon and this is the second week in a row that gas prices have had a double-digit decrease. After two weeks in the top five for most expensive gas in the nation, Michigan has now dropped down to tenth.

Of the ten Michigan metro area surveyed by AAA, the lowest average gas prices can be found in the Traverse City area where it's about $2.30 per gallon. The highest averages can be found in the Ann Arbor area where it's about $2.51 per gallon. Gas prices in and around the Flint area were averaging $2.45 as of Sunday.

AAA says that gasoline demand remains on track to set a new all-time high for the 2016 summer driving season and pump prices in the Great Lakes area remain volatile and continue to be impacted by imbalances in supply and demand.
