Gas prices in Michigan have dropped 12 cents in the past week according to the latest Gas Price Primer from AAA. Michigan's current statewide average is $2.12 per gallon.

Of the ten Michigan metro areas surveyed by AAA for self-serve unleaded fuel prices, the lowest prices can be found in the Flint area where it's about $1.98 per gallon. The highest average for the second week in a row can be found in the Marquette area, where it's about $2.23 per gallon.

AAA says Michigan ranks 15th in the nation for the least expensive average daily gas price and 2nd in the nation for the largest weekly change. While the Great Lakes region is often the most volatile in the country, prices are heading downward which can be attributed to an Indiana refinery completing unplanned maintenance which has helped to ease supply constraints in the region.
