Gas prices in Michigan have increased 13 cents in the last week according to AAA Michigan.

The current statewide average is about $2.30 per gallon, up 13 cents from last week but down about 22 cents from a year ago at this time.

Of the ten Michigan metro areas surveyed by AAA for self-serve unleaded fuel, the lowest prices can be found in the Marquette area where it's about $2.23 per gallon. The highest averages can be found in the Jackson-Lansing area where it's about $2.37 per gallon. Gas prices in and around the Flint area were averaging $2.32 as of Sunday.

AAA Michigan says relatively cheaper gas prices are boosting driving demand and that 2016 remains poised to be a record year for gasoline consumption and annual miles traveled. However, the price of gas is likely to inch higher in the coming months as refineries work to keep pace with growing gasoline demand.
