Gas prices have increased AAA Michigan reports. Michigan's current statewide average is just over $3.62 per gallon, up about two cents from last week and about four cents less than the same time last year.

As of Sunday night, gas prices in and around the Flint area are slightly higher than the statewide average with prices around $3.64 a gallon. Of the cites surveyed by AAA Michigan, the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel can be found in the Traverse City area where its about $3.42 per gallon. The highest average is in the Jackson area where prices are hovering around $3.68 per gallon.

AAA also says demand for gas and prices generally fall in September through the end of the year as people drive less and the refineries begin to produce a less expensive winter-blend. AAA expects gas prices nationally could drop another 10-20 cents per gallon.

AAA surveys 2,800 Michigan gas stations daily. For more information, visit www.fuelgaugereport.com. To find the cheapest gas nationwide, go to AAA.com and look for AAA Fuel Price Finder.
