Gas prices continue to decline, dropping 19 cents in the past week according to AAA Michigan.Michigan's current statewide average is about $2.48 per gallon, almost 20 cents less than last week's average and nearly 70 cents less than the same time last year. AAA says this is the fifth week in a row that statewide average weekly gas prices have dropped and they haven't been this low in over five years.

Of the cities surveyed by AAA, the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel can be found in the Flint area, where it's about $2.37 per gallon. The highest average can be found in the Marquette area at about $2.68 per gallon.

AAA says the Midwestern states are posting the most dramatic savings over this period with Indiana and Ohio also seeing a double digit drop this past week. AAA attributes the low prices to global oil markets which are struggling to find a bottom since the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries' decision to sustain production levels.
