AAA Michigan: Gas Prices Increase Seven Cents
Gas prices have increased for the second straight week AAA Michigan reports. Michigan’s current statewide average is just over $3.59 per gallon, about seven cents more than last week, and about six cents more than last year at this time.
Gas prices in and around the Flint area are slightly higher than the statewide average with prices hovering around $3.62 per gallon. Of the cities surveyed by AAA Michigan, the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel can be found in the Metro Detroit area where it’s about $3.55 a gallon. The highest average is in the Jackson area where it’s $3.63 a gallon.
According to the most recent weekly AAA National report, some fuel factors include growing tensions in the Middle East and the U.S. and European powers who announced coordinated sanctions last week against Russia’s long term ability to develop new oil resources.
