Gas prices have increased AAA Michigan reports. Michigan's current statewide average is just under $3.59 per gallon, up eight cents from last week.

Of the cities surveyed by AAA Michigan, the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel can be found in Traverse City where it's about $3.47 a gallon. The highest average is in the Saginaw-Bay City-Midland area at about $3.62 per gallon. As of Monday, gas prices in and around the Flint area were slightly higher with averages just under $3.62 per gallon.

In additions to the easing of global crude prices being a driving factor behind the falling retail prices, AAA says some fuel factors contributing to prices were: In recent years motorists have seen geopolitical headlines trigger higher global crude oil prices and ultimately higher prices at the pump; however this has not been the case this summer. In recent weeks, oil markets have largely shrugged off reports of violence and tensions overseas and have instead moved steadily lower as analysts have assessed the potential for disruption in oil supplies to be limited.
