AAA Michigan: Gas Prices Inch Up Three Cents

Gas prices inched up about three cents according to AAA Michigan. The current statewide average is about $3 per gallon, about three cents more than last week and about 22 cents less than last year at this time.

Gas prices in and around the Flint area are slightly less than the statewide average with prices around $2.99 as of Sunday. Of the other cities surveyed by AAA, the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel can be found in the Detroit area where it's about $2.96 per gallon. The highest average is in the Jackson area at about $3.04 a gallon.

AAA is also predicting that the national average could fall another 5-15 cents in the coming week, which could make for the cheapest Thanksgiving gas in half a decade.
