AAA Michigan: Gas Prices Drop 12 Cents

Gas prices have dropped 12 cents in the past week according to AAA Michigan. The current statewide average is just under $3.50 per gallon, about six cents less than this same time last year.

Gas prices in and around the Flint area are even lower than the statewide average with Sunday prices right around $3.42 per gallon. Of the cities surveyed, AAA says the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel can be found in the Traverse City area. The highest average is in the Marquette area where its around $3.57 per gallon.

AAA says some of the fuel factors contributing to prices include refineries beginning to switch over to their winter blends, which is cheaper to make and national averages typically decline after Labor Day due to the end of the summer driving season and ample supply.
