With the 57th annual Mackinac Bridge walk approaching, MDOT says 40,000 walkers are expected to cross the 5-mile span on Labor Day.

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder will lead the walk beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, September 1. Walkers will be able to start across the bridge up until 11 a.m. and buses will be available to bring walkers from Mackinaw City to St. Ignace for $5.

For safety purposes, Michigan State Police will once again conduct searches of purses, bags, and backpacks for all walkers. If contents of bags aren't essential, walkers are asked to leave them in their vehicles to help avoid delays.

More details on the walk are available at www.mackinacbridge.org. Walkers are also asked to share their experiences on social media for a chance to tour the Mighty Mac! More information on that can be found here.
