With 62 murders on record for Flint, that makes 2011 the deadliest year to date. Sunday's murder of Timothy Barker came in just after the mayor and the police chief wrapped up details on the 61st murder. Here is what ABC12 WJRT had to say about the murder:

The man killed in that shooting has been identified as Timothy Baker. At last check, a woman was listed in critical condition. Another man has been identified as the woman's boyfriend and Baker's nephew. He was shot and was listed in fair condition.

This happened inside a home in the 600 block of West Ridgeway just after 7 Sunday night.

Police Chief Alvern Lock says three suspects have been arrested. Lock did not elaborate, but says the home involved is a suspected drug house.

Mayor Dayne Walling this morning called 2010 a "long and difficult year."

"We always are focusing on the families, the victims that are affected. These crimes have affected this entire community," Walling said.

With the looming of 20 layoffs to police officers in Flint going into effect on Friday, will Flint's violent crime activity rise?
